Treasurer Schmitt praises signing of pension reform legislation
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Eric Schmitt, a member of the Missouri State Employee Retirement System (MOSERS) Board of Trustees, today praised Governor Greitens for signing important pension reform legislation into law. Senate Bill 62 authorizes MOSERS to offer voluntary advances on benefits packages to eligible employees who are no longer working in state government.
“Addressing our state’s pension problem is about protecting taxpayers from a budget disaster like the one Illinois is going through,” Schmitt said. “The signing of Senate Bill 62 into law by Governor Greitens marks a positive step toward reducing our state’s pension liability, and I look forward to working with fellow MOSERS board members to implement it.”
Schmitt previously endorsed the proposal in March when he called on lawmakers to send it the governor’s desk for approval.
