Partnerships help return Unclaimed Property

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel safeguards more than $750 million in Unclaimed Property for more than 4.4 million account holders. He is committed to keeping Missouri taxpayer money safe and understands how important every dollar is. In an effort to help older Missourians claim their property, Treasurer Zweifel has partnered with AARP Missouri and the St. Louis Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Through greater awareness of Unclaimed Property and access to his staff, Treasurer Zweifel hopes to make it easier to claim Unclaimed Property and educate individuals on how to prevent their property from becoming Unclaimed Property. He recently visited an AARP Chapter in Kansas City to discuss Unclaimed Property and how members can help keep their assets from becoming unclaimed. State Treasurer Clint Zweifel has returned Unclaimed Property to more than half a million accounts

JEFFERSON CITY – State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) announced today he has reached an important milestone, returning Unclaimed Property to more than 500,000 accounts since January 2009. This is the most returned under any State Treasurer since Unclaimed Property became part of the office in 1993.
Treasurer Clint Zweifel thanks General Assembly for unanimous passage of Military Medal Return Bill

JEFFERSON CITY – State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) today thanked both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly for passing the Military Medal Return Bill yesterday. Treasurer Zweifel holds 89 military medals in Unclaimed Property, and this bill will help him return these medals to the veterans who earned them. The Military Medal Return Bill, sponsored by Representative Vicki Englund in the House and handled by Senator Dan Brown in the Senate, passed each chamber unanimously and was given final approval as an amendment to SB 186.

JEFFERSON CITY – As part of his continued effort to reunite Unclaimed Property with its owners, State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) announced today he has returned more than $1 million to three account owners. In fiscal year 2013, Treasurer Zweifel has returned more than $3.5 million to individuals with accounts over $100,000.
