PRESS RELEASE
Missouri's 2024 Unclaimed Property Auction Preview Begins Today!
The July 28 preview is currently underway, from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. The Unclaimed Property Auction will be held July 29-30 at 9:00am, with previews starting at 8:00am daily. Welcome
to Missouri’s 2024 Unclaimed Property Auction! The Auction location and time
instructions, along with a catalog of all available inventory can be previewed
online at: treasurer.mo.gov/auction.
This
year’s Auction will hold a total of 3,848 lots with items from books and
stamps, to jewelry and wristwatches of all variety! For writers, there will be
an Atkins, Lambert, and Co No.41 Quill Pen. For coin and history collectors, an
1872 Great Britain Shilling and four (4) 1893 World's Columbian Exposition
(World’s Fair) Tickets. We hope that you are able to take a moment to preview
the booklet of inventory prepared, as we have nearly double the amount of lots
available than last year’s auction! The
Auction features a wide-range of items from safe deposit boxes surrendered as
Unclaimed Property. Under Missouri law, financial institutions will hand over
these items, now known as Unclaimed Property, after no contact with the owner
after a statutorily set period of time, generally five (5) years. However, we
do not handle certain personal property, such as vehicles or real estate.
Proceeds are recorded under the owner’s original name, never do these items ever
become the state’s property. Original owners or proper heirs can claim proceeds
anytime at www.ShowMeMoney.com. Lastly,
it is worth noting the only non-cash unclaimed items that will never be sold
are military medals and insignia, which we will continue to work in reuniting
it with its original owner. Otherwise, we hope to see you at this year’s
Unclaimed Property Auction and encourage you to review the auction booklet as
you join us in Springfield!
