Missouri’s MOST 529 Education Savings Plan Surpasses $5 Billion in Assets Under Management

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek today announced that the state’s MOST 529 Education Savings Plan has achieved a historic milestone, surpassing $5 billion in assets under management. This achievement signifies the foresight of thousands of Missouri families committed to saving for future education expenses.
“This milestone reflects the trust Missouri families place in the MOST 529 program and their dedication to planning for a brighter future,” said Treasurer Malek. “Every dollar saved today helps ensure that tomorrow’s educational opportunities are within reach.”
The MOST 529 plan provides tax advantaged savings options for families preparing for education costs, including college tuition, K–12 expenses, and apprenticeship programs. In October of last year, the Treasurer’s Office announced that the program had reached 200,000 active accounts. Currently, the average account size exceeds $25,000, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in helping Missourians build savings for the future.
Treasurer Malek emphasized that this success is more than a milestone—it reflects the program’s role in empowering families to invest in education and opportunity.
