State Treasurer Vivek Malek Announces Staff Appointments
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jefferson City, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek is pleased to
announce the appointment of several individuals serving on his staff in the
Treasurer’s Office. The following individuals have
joined the Treasurer’s Office: Tom Deuschle – Assistant State
Treasurer Deuschle served under Governor John
Ashcroft in the Governor’s Office and later as Director of Employment Security,
and under Governor Matt Blunt as Director of Labor and Industrial Relations and
later as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Governor’s Office. During the first Trump
Administration, Deuschle served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of the
Employment and Training Administration, U.S. Department of Labor. Jackson Bailey – Chief of Staff Bailey has served the Missouri State
Treasurer’s Office as Policy Advisor and was recently appointed Chief of Staff.
His background includes experience in state and federal government, having
previously worked in the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, and
the Missouri Senate. He has also been involved in government affairs and public
advocacy through positions with organizations such as Husch Blackwell
Strategies, the University of Missouri System, and Missouri Soybeans. He holds
dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Constitutional Democracy and Political Science from
the University of Missouri. Trent Blair – Director of Programs Blair has over 25 years of
experience in project management, solution design, and service implementation
within government and private organizations. As a former Active Duty and Air
Force Reserve Officer, he has previous state government experience as
Operations Director for the Missouri Senate and Division Director, Facilities
Management, Design and Construction within the Office of Administration. Caty Luebbert – Director of
Communications Luebbert most recently served as
Deputy Communications Director for the Missouri Department of Commerce and
Insurance (DCI). Prior to DCI, she served as the Public Information Director at
the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and previously worked as a
Video/Web Content Specialist with the Office of Administration. She has a Bachelor
of Journalism with an interest in Emerging Media from the University of
Missouri. Joe Pondrom – Policy Advisor Pondrom has served as a staff member
in the Missouri House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. He previously
worked in various positions in state government, including as Director of
Policy and Legislative Affairs for Lt. Gov. Peter D. Kinder. Joe has a Bachelor
of Science in Economics from Southeast Missouri State University. Susan Schauffler – Executive
Assistant Schauffler previously served the
Missouri Secretary of State’s Office in multiple roles, including Executive
Secretary and Administrative Assistant, and was recently appointed Executive
Assistant in the State Treasurer’s Office. Her experience includes assisting
constituents, managing correspondence, and supporting executive operations. ###
