JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Today, Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek was officially sworn in as Missouri’s 48th State Treasurer at the 2025 Inauguration Ceremony.
"It is my utmost honor to be able to serve as your State Treasurer, and I promise to work hard every day to safeguard the people’s money and bring opportunity to Missouri families and their communities,” Treasurer Malek said. “In this historic moment, I can attest that the American Dream is alive and well. It has all brought me to this day, in this place, in the heart of America, in the heart of Missouri.”
Treasurer Malek holds a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from Mahrishi Dayanand University in Rohtak, India. Additionally, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and a Master of Laws from the University of Illinois College of Law in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. He has practiced law in the State of Missouri since 2006. In 2020, Governor Mike Parson appointed Treasurer Malek to the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors, where he worked to promote fiscal responsibility. In 2022, Treasurer Malek was appointed by Governor Parson to replace the current State Auditor, Scott Fitzpatrick. He was elected to a full-term on November 5, 2024.
Treasurer Malek has been married to his wife, Riju, for 20 years, and they have three children together, Naija, Viraj, and Myra.
