JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek is encouraging Missouri families to plan ahead for education expenses by saving through the MOST 529 Savings Plan and by using Ugift® as a convenient way for friends and family members to contribute.

“Missouri families know it is important to make every dollar count when saving for their children’s education,” Treasurer Malek said. “Ugift is a free, secure service that allows family and friends to make online or check contributions directly to a beneficiary’s 529 college savings account. The entire gift amount is deposited into the account. Gift givers do not need to register, and contributions can be made online or by mailing a check.”

Ugift® provides an easy and meaningful alternative to traditional gifts for birthdays, holidays, graduations, and other special occasions. By contributing through Ugift®, family members and friends can support a child’s educational future while ensuring funds are invested directly into a MOST 529 Savings Account.

Families may use their investment in a MOST 529 Savings Account for tuition at a two-year or four-year college or university, as well as trade or vocational schools, registered apprenticeship programs, or K–12 private institutions. In addition to tuition, funds may be used for qualified education-related expenses such as books, supplies, room and board, and computer equipment. These flexible options allow families to tailor savings to a wide range of educational pathways.

Ugift® makes gift-giving more meaningful for everyone while also providing financial benefits to Missouri taxpayers. Missouri residents who contribute to a MOST 529 Account may be eligible to claim a Missouri state tax deduction for their contributions. Account owners can generate a unique Ugift® code that directs contributions straight into their MOST 529 Savings Account, making the process seamless for both the account owner and the gift giver.

How It Works:
  1. Log in to or set up a MOST 529 Account to obtain your Ugift® code.
  2. Share your unique code with family and friends.
  3. Contributions can be made at www.ugift529.com
