Treasurer Fitzpatrick Holds Conference Call with Missouri’s Local Governments and U.S. Treasury Department
Jefferson City, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick today
held a conference call with more than 170 Missouri county government leaders
and the U.S. Treasury Department to provide guidance and best practices to
local governments to effectively use their CARES Act funding. Office of
Administration Director of Accounting Stacy Neal and Department of Economic
Development Director Rob Dixon also participated. Since receiving their funds in May, many local
governments have requested further guidance on qualified COVID expenditures. Today’s
conference call was an opportunity for them to hear directly from the federal
government. “I know that our local
governments want to serve their constituents well by using the CARES Act
funding to help their counties and municipalities respond to COVID-19 and
recover from its impact in a responsible way,” Treasurer Fitzpatrick said. “I
am grateful to the U.S. Treasury Department for taking the time to answer
questions from our local governments. I will continue to support our counties
and municipalities as they rebound from the COVID-19 health emergency.” On
April 10, 2020, Governor Parson formed a working group, led by Treasurer
Fitzpatrick, to make recommendations for the use of federal funding provided
for COVID-19-related costs under the CARES Act. This advisory body is studying
and analyzing the federal relief available to Missouri, its citizens, and
businesses, and identifying best practices and procedures to apply that relief.
