JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek is highlighting National Financial Freedom Day on July 1. This day marks the beginning of a month focused on the importance of financial freedom and how learning strong money management skills supports that goal.

“National Financial Freedom Day is about encouraging everyone to build long-term financial security, no matter what life stage you are in,” said Treasurer Malek. “Knowledge is power when it comes to being informed about your finances, so take time to set goals and take real action in securing your financial future.”

National Financial Freedom Day is about raising awareness on personal finance, accruing wealth, and reducing debt. An easy way to celebrate is to brush up on financial literacy and understand the resources at your disposal. The Missouri State Treasurer’s Office makes this easy by offering a comprehensive Financial Literacy Portal on the State Treasurer’s website. This portal provides resources to aid you in creating a monthly budget, planning for future education expenses, and even longer-term goals such as saving for retirement. The portal also offers links to reputable sources to help offer a trusted, accessible resource for Missourians.

The Financial Literacy Portal is something that Treasurer Malek has made a priority during his time in office. He has made it a mission to bring together educators, business leaders, and community organizations to increase financial education statewide.
