Treasurer Schmitt briefs Governor Parson on state finances, Missouri’s fiscal health

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo — State Treasurer Eric Schmitt today met with Governor Mike Parson to provide a briefing on state financial operations and Missouri’s fiscal health. The two officials discussed issues ranging from the state’s investment portfolio to pensions and other long-term liabilities.
“As Missouri’s Chief Financial Officer, my focus remains on protecting taxpayers and advocating for policies that expand economic opportunity for all Missourians,” Schmitt said. “We had a productive meeting with Governor Parson today where we discussed a range of important fiscal issues our state will face moving forward.”
Schmitt was sworn in as Missouri’s 46th State Treasurer in January of 2017. As Treasurer, Schmitt is focused on protecting Missouri taxpayers, supporting small businesses and empowering individuals and their families while overseeing the state’s $4 billion investment portfolio.
