Friday, July 27, 2018
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo — Missouri State Treasurer Eric Schmitt released a statement today in response to a new report showing 4.1 percent growth in national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the second quarter of 2018. State level figures for second quarter growth will be released in November by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
“The continued growth of our state’s core industries like manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare indicates sustained economic expansion that will translate to more jobs and higher wages for hardworking Missourians. Missouri’s economy remains strong, which was confirmed this week by a new report showing our GDP grew at a rate of 2.4% during the first quarter of 2018. Growth of more than 4% on the national level in the second quarter gives us reason to be optimistic about seeing further improvement here in Missouri. Pro-growth economic policies have resulted in improving economic conditions and I expect that trend to continue.”
Missouri’s GDP increased by 2.4 percent during the first quarter of 2018. A copy of the report published by the U.S. Department of Commerce is available here. Additional Missouri economic indicators can be explored through Treasurer Schmitt’s Missouri Economic Dashboard.
