Treasurer Schmitt Commemorates Disability Employment Awareness Month
Monday, October 1, 2018
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Missouri State Treasurer Eric Schmitt today commemorated the beginning of Disability Employment Awareness Month in October:
“Every day, Missourians with disabilities bring unique problem-solving skills to the workplace, and therefore, strengthen businesses across the state,” Schmitt said. “As chair of the Missouri ABLE Board, I often speak with individuals with disabilities who are reaching their full potential through employment. This month allows all Missourians to join together to celebrate their contributions.”
During the month of October, Treasurer Schmitt will join national and local leaders to announce enhancements to the MO ABLE program that will help employed individuals with disabilities. Additionally, Treasurer Schmitt will continue his tradition of presenting the Best of Missouri Award to individuals who bring important and innovative contributions to the workplace.
Schmitt will hold his first Best of Missouri recognition event for Disability Employment Awareness Month this Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
Treasurer Schmitt launched Missouri’s ABLE program, MO ABLE, in April 2017. Eligible individuals can learn more and sign up for an account at www.MOABLE.com.
