JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek announced today that the MOScholars program has received more than 4,000 new scholarship applications for the 2026–2027 school year, with the application window remaining open until Friday, April 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM CST. This marks the first year the application portal has opened well in advance of the upcoming school year, giving families more time to prepare, submit required documentation, and receive confirmation of their application status.

“This milestone shows that parents across Missouri are eager for more options when it comes to their children’s education,” said Treasurer Malek. “MOScholars empowers families to make decisions that best fit their needs, and we are proud to see thousands of new applicants taking advantage of this opportunity.”

The new applications submitted so far represent an estimated $28.58 million in additional scholarships. With nearly three months remaining before the current application window closes, many more applications are expected. Missouri families will also have an additional opportunity to apply during the summer 2026 application window.

ABOUT MOSCHOLARS

These scholarships can be used for tuition at approved schools as well as other educational services. Historic milestones are nothing new for MOScholars. During the 2025–2026 school year, the program experienced a remarkable 140% increase in awarded scholarships compared to the previous year, reaching 6,418 scholarships representing more than $43 million in funding.
